Digging holes in the ground

So once the site was level, we marked out where all the piers had to go and the lovely Dave from Yass Valley Earthworks came in with the Bobcat and drilled all the pier holes.  Then hubby had the fun job of cleaning the dirt out of the bottom of all the pier holes. There were 150 of them and it took him all day. He was nearly a broken man, but not quite. Luckily.

Then the holes were filled with concrete and leveled off by hand by our mate Harry to whom we still owe help with at least a major renovation.

Finally, Dave came back with the bobcat and leveled off the dirt around the now concrete filled holes to make it easier to attach the piers.

Tomorrow, the thrilling story of how the supports were attached to the concrete by our army of slave labour.
